Our Mission
The Los Angeles Prescribed Burn Association is a community-based beneficial fire network established in 2024. Modeled after Prescribed Burn Associations around the country, the mission of the LAPBA is to be a resource for getting beneficial fire on the ground in Los Angeles County and surrounding areas, and to build local capacity and community for conducting prescribed and cultural burns.
The LAPBA reflects and responds to the specific nature and diversity of human communities, plant communities, needs, and burning objectives in Los Angeles County. We are cultivating a network of fire practitioners and land stewards across the county, region, and the state, and we aim to conduct burns with objectives ranging from fuels reduction and wildfire risk mitigation to cultural and ecological restoration.
